This 2-day course teaches you the value of a green home so you can help your clients understand green features, make cost-saving decisions, and navigate rebate programs. Our course focuses specifically on existing homes in the California marketplace, helping you navigate statewide energy efficiency rebate programs like Energy Upgrade California, California mortgage options and lending programs (203K, Energy Efficiency Mortgages) and state specific disclosure regulations. Fees and Registration

Thanks to generous support from San Diego Gas and Electric, registration has been discounted to just a $50 flat fee for all attendees

Requirements for the CGREP Certification

Anyone may attend this course, but to take the final exam and become a Certified Green Real Estate Professional, the following requirements apply:

Attendance - Participants must attend 90% of clock hours for this training
Pass the exam - Participants must receive a passing grade of 70% on the final exam (open-book at the end of day 2). If you do not receive a passing grade, you may re-take the exam for a fee of $50.
Proof that you are licenced or working as one of the following - Real Estate Agent, Real Estate Broker, Real Estate Appraiser, Residential Mortgage Lender, California Finance Lender, Escrow Company, Financial Institution

Continuing Education Credit Available:

This course is Department of Real Estate (DRE) accredited
for 16 hours of Continuing Education (CE) in Consumer Service. DRE Sponsor No. 5040

This course is approved by BPI for 8 continuing education units.

John Shipman

John Shipman is President of Energy Efficiency Management, Inc.; an approved Energy Upgrade California Home Performance-BPI Contractor, REALTOR® and a Trainer for the California Assocociation of REALTORS® (C.A.R.), N.A.R. Green Designation. Additionally, he is Program Coordinator and Instructor for California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), Continuing and Professional Education Department’s Green and Sustainable Building Certificate Program; Trainer for Build It Green’s CGBP Program; BPI Proctor and a Lead Trainer for the CBPCA’s Home Performance with Energy Star and BPI Certificate Program. John is a graduate of University of California, Los Angeles.

Tenaya Asan

Tenaya Asan brings 30 years of experience in the residential construction industry to her position as the Program Manager of the GreenPoint Rated program. She uses her construction knowledge, management capabilities and collaborative abilities to direct this rapidly expanding program. Tenaya was a key strategist and manager in the development of the GreenPoint Rated Existing Home rating system, the first of its kind in the nation. She is responsible for overseeing rater training and certification; quality assurance for rated projects; providing education and support to builders, raters, designers and others; and developing program protocols and procedures. She is a California licensed General Contractor, a Certified Green Building Professional, a Certified GreenPoint Rater and a HERS rater. She has a Masters degree in Education and is certified as a Green Building Professional from Sonoma State University.
