Event Notes:

Topic:  Bringing it Home: Integrating Design and Construction in a Multifamily Retrofit with a Focus on Green

Description: Multifamily building owners, developers, architects, engineers, builders, and tenants (!) can benefit from an integrated design approach during a comprehensive retrofit of a building.

This case study will follow a bay area high-rise multifamily retrofit from scoping through construction. The presenters will emphasize the value of engaging an experienced green building consultant as early in the process as possible, both to provide a bridge from the design team to the construction team, but also to ensure the owner’s sustainability goals are met.  They will highlight an approach to residential and multi-family rehabilitation projects that can inform project scope, save on consulting costs, construction costs, and future operating costs.

The presentation will highlight how the consultant worked with the project team to provide an energy audit, optimized energy modeling for performance and compliance, GreenPoint Rating, compliance with California’s Green Code, and coordinating the formal commissioning process which is currently underway.
