Why Should I Recertify?
Build It Green’s certifications help you increase your credibility and differentiate yourself in the marketplace. Our Certified Green Building Professionals and GreenPoint Raters and Advisors are respected throughout the industry.
Your certification is also required for you to be listed in our Certified Green Professional Directory, which gets over 2,500 hits per month by visitors searching for green building professionals like you.
What Should I Recertify For?

If you have multiple certifications through Build It Green, you only need to recertify for the most advanced level of certification that you have achieved. The hierarchy of certifications is shown to the right, from most introductory to advanced.
Recertify for the most advanced level, and you will be automatically recertified for all certifications you hold at the same or lower levels.
When Do I Recertify?
Certifications are valid for two years. You must recertify by your expiration date, which is found at the bottom of your directory listing when logged in and in edit mode.
There is no grace period; however you may petition for a temporary extension if necessary.
To ensure that there is no lapse in your certification, please submit your application at least 30 days prior to the expiration date. If you earned your CEUs outside of Build It Green, your application may take up to 60 days to process.

If you complete all other steps and fail to pass the exam, you will only qualify for Advisor status for 2 more years. |
What If My Certification is Expired?
If your certification is expired and your Directory Listing is inactive, you can take the following steps and apply to be reinstated:
1) Pay Late Charges if it is within 1 year of expiration.
2) Retake the appropriate training if it is expired by more than 1 year.
