A not-for-profit organization that provides a global forum for the development and publication of voluntary consensus standards for materials, products, systems, and services.

ASHRAE is organized for the sole purpose of advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration for the public's benefit through research, standards writing, continuing education and publications.

CSI is an individual membership technical society that provides technical information and products, continuing education, professional conferences, and product shows to enhance communication among all disciplines of nonresidential building design and construction. CSI has developed "MasterFormat", which is the most widely used format in the U.S. for nonresidential building specifications.

IESNA sets standards and offers professonal education on all aspects of lighting.

ICC was established in 1994 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing a single set of comprehensive and coordinated national model construction codes. The founders of the ICC are Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. (BOCA), International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), and Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc. (SBCCI).

Part 6 of the the California building code establishes the efficiency standards for residential and non-residential building in the state of California.

The Smart Communities Network offers a number of sustainability sample codes and ordinances and specific green building codes and ordinances from around the country.

The Program develops test procedures and minimum efficiency standards for residential appliances and commercial equipment.
