Recertification Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Overview

  • CEUs are typically granted as 1 unit for every 1 hour of instruction.

  • All recertification applicants are required to earn 16 CEUs within each 2 year certification cycle. Units earned outside this period do not count towards recertification.

  • CEUs are only awarded for advanced green building trainings, beyond introductory or basic building education.

  • Webinars and online courses will be evaluated for credit value on a case-by-case basis.

  • CEUs can only be applied to each course once in each recertification cycle; repeating a course will not add to the CEU total.

  • Proof of Attendance: Applicants are required to independently track, document, and provide proof of attendance for all coursework not taken through Build It Green. Proof of attendance can be verified in any of the following ways:
    • Certificate of Attendance, Achievement, or Completion
    • Documentation signed by an instructor or educational institution

Earning CEUs Through Build It Green

You can earn CEUs by attending any of the following Build It Green offerings:

  • Select webinars

When filling out your recertification application, document your Build It Green attendance by pasting your completed course information in the appropriate section. You can find this information under "Courses" in your user profile.

Earning CEUs From Other Providers

You may request credit for courses taken through other organizations.  Only courses that go beyond introductory or basic green building education will be considered for CEU credit. Please allow up to 30 additional days for processing.

Request Course Pre-Approval for Build It Green CEUs: To determine if an educational event will be accepted by Build It Green for continuing education credit, please email recertification@builditgreen.org with any available information OR a web link to information about the event, including:

  • Event name, location and date(s)
  • Company or organization presenting the event
  • Instructor/speaker name(s)
  • Duration of all educational sessions
  • Detailed description of educational content
Build It Green staff may request additional information to the above as a requirement for further course consideration. Requests for course approval may be denied for any reason, at Build It Green's sole discretion.

For courses that have already taken place, the applicant may request CEU approval retroactively. These courses are subject to the same review process outlined above.

Submit Proof of Attendance for Non-Build It Green Coursework: To receive credit for an educational event offered by another provider, please email recertification@builditgreen.org with your proof of attendance. Attachments may be provided.
